Our Mission
Serving Medical Physicists in New Jersey
With a membership base extending throughout the New Jersey region, we cater to approximately 150 active members. Our primary objective is to advocate for the interests of medical physicists in the New Jersey area. We endeavor to facilitate networking and collaboration opportunities while providing support and empowerment to members of the New Jersey medical physics community.
Host Annual Meetings and Outings
We organize one to two annual meetings along with occasional outings as circumstances permit. These meetings showcase distinguished speakers from the local area who share innovative research and clinically relevant topics. We award lifetime achievement awards to members of our community who have dedicated themselves to our profession. Additionally, to foster networking among medical physicists, we are in the process of arranging casual outings in the near future.
Host Mock Oral Exams
We are diligently coordinating efforts among our members to organize mock oral exams aimed at providing constructive feedback to the community. These initiatives are designed to assist junior members in preparing for board certification exams.
Encourage Junior Members
Every year during annual meetings, we host a medical physics slam competition. Medical Physics Slam is a three-minute elevator pitch competition where students and trainees can practice communicating their research to a lay audience. The winner will represent our chapter in a final competition organized by the AAPM Students and Trainees Subcommittee.
